Printer-friendly version

These little appetizers are flavored with green onions and a little horseradish for kick. You can also add a sprinkle of cayenne pepper at the end of prep for color and a tiny bit of heat. Prep time is fast and the process is very simple. Serve as an appetizer, side dish or even as a snack.

Ingredients:

  • 1 sheet (7-8 ounce) of pre-packaged pastry puff
  • 1 tablespoon milk
  • 1 tablespoon horseradish
  • ¼ teaspoon ground black pepper
  • 1 can crabmeat (pasteurized), drained
  • 4 green onions, finely chopped
  • ½ cup sliced and toasted almond
  • Cayenne pepper

Directions:

Preheat oven to 400 degrees. Spread pastry sheet on a lightly floured surface. Using a circle cutter or drinking glass make 2 inch circles and place shapes on a baking sheet. Bake for 15 minutes, until golden brown.  Let pastries cool for about 10 minutes and slice each one into two layers- 12 tops and 12 bottoms.

In a medium bowl, combine softened cream cheese, milk, horseradish, black pepper and crabmeat. Spoon a large dollop of the mixture onto each of the 12 bottom pastry layers. Sprinkle each with green onion and toasted almond. Place a top pastry layer on each and serve.
